It’s a beautiful day in PARADISE!

'Tis the Season for Giving, So Let's Get Moving!

Friday, November 30, 2018

The holiday season is wonderful in so many ways. Enjoying family and loved ones, decorating and giving back are just some of the things that I enjoy the most. That's why the Let's Get Moving campaign is so near and dear to my heart. Let's Get Moving is not only a moving initiative, designed to get you up and moving your body, it's also a way to give back to the community and to truly help those who need it the most. 'Tis the season for giving, everyone! So, Let's Get Moving! Here's how my journey began...

An Idea is Born

About a year-and-a-half ago, I began a journey with a national charitable organization. Through this organization, my goal was to decorate one house per quarter to help a family in need. Unfortunately the program ended, and I found myself seeking, yet again, for a way to help my community. Then, one night, it hit me. Let's Get Moving. Thankfully, we live in one of the healthiest and happiest cities in the country, and what better way to celebrate this AND help others than by creating a moving initiative? Let's Get Moving embodies the whole concept of teamwork and helping others, and I knew that it was something that was destined to be impactful.

And So It Begins...

Let's Get Moving encompasses the idea of moving our bodies, and since one of my passions is real estate, moving homes as well. With all of the unique fitness facilities available, I just knew that these spaces would be the perfect pieces to the puzzle. Together with local fitness programs, we partnered to provide attendees with fun ways to get moving, all the while raising money for local charities. Starting out, my goal was to plan an event once per quarter, but through the popularity of the program with the local community and my agents' desires to organize their own campaigns as part of the Let's Get Moving initiative, we've well surpassed that this year, hosting a total of nine events...and the year isn't over yet!

Getting Involved

Being the amazing team that they are, my agents were excited to get on board with the program. Many agents have organized their own events, benefiting charities of their choice. Not only is this a fabulous way to take ownership and stand behind something, Let's Get Moving is a way for agents to get involved with the local community. Together, through this program, we've been able to raise $16,000 for local charities, and have been able to feature local fitness facilities through my partnership with FOX 4. Everyone benefits from this feel-good way to break a sweat and band together to help out our community.

Growing Together

Not only does the Let's Get Moving program help others, everyone involved grows too. Let's Get Moving starts with:

  • An idea

  • A passion

  • A cause

  • A mission

'Tis the season for giving. Let's give back to those who need it the most. Let's get healthier, happier and stronger. Let's Get Moving.

A Very Beachy Christmas: How to Decorate for the Holidays Florida-style

Friday, November 30, 2018

Here in Southwest Florida, we have some pretty funny ways to celebrate the holidays. Instead of making snowmen and warming up by the fire, you may find us riding in a Christmas Boat Parade, hosting a picnic on the beach, or enjoying the artificial snow on Third Street South in Naples, Florida. Decorating the home can be unique as well! With all the special collectibles that we find on the beach, why not incorporate them into your holiday décor? Creating a beachy feel at Christmastime can seem almost effortless...and not to mention, fun! Here are my top tips on adding a beachy-modern touch to the home during the holidays…no matter where you live!

Styling with Shells

Seashells are in abundance on our beautiful beaches here in Southwest Florida, and it's always fun to collect them during our walks. My girls and I love to incorporate these fun finds in our Christmas decorations by constructing mini-trees out of seashells and donning starfish as tree toppers. What a fun way to showcase some of our finds from all of our explorations! You can also find shells at your local craft store.

Festive Tip: Hobby Lobby is my go-to place to find little Styrofoam trees that my girls and I attach our seashells to. They come in a variety of sizes, making them perfect to place throughout the house and in my girls' rooms.

Don't Forget Your Outdoor Living Space

We are fortunate enough to be able to embrace indoor-outdoor living with ease. Many of our homes have relaxing outdoor living areas that can be decorated to capture the essence of the holiday season. My favorite way to create a tropical “winter” wonderland is wrapping the bases of my palm trees in lights and matching my outdoor lanai to the beachy Christmas vibe in the home, tying in the entire beachy-modern feel all through the space.

Festive Tip: Love looking at Christmas lights? Victoria Park is the best community to enjoy all the beautiful holiday arrangements! Hop in the car, grab some hot cocoa (you may have to turn up the A/C to set the mood) and take a drive through this beautifully-decorated community.

Embrace Your Holiday in Paradise

Southwest Florida is simply paradise, which is why I love to embrace our area’s natural beauty when I'm decorating my home for the holidays. Remember, if you're looking for a change from the normal Christmas décor, try incorporating the following to create a holiday in paradise that you'll never forget:

  • Beach-themed accents on your tree

  • Mini-seashell trees

  • Light and bright ornaments

  • Light up your outdoor living area

Keep it bright, keep it fun and enjoy the season! The key thing to remember here is to embrace your inner style and have fun with it. The holidays are a time to reflect, spend time with loved ones and enjoy each other's company. Create moments together that you'll always remember. Find the look that speaks to you and don't be afraid to go against the grain with your decoration choices.
